I've had the distinct pleasure of working with Brian for 7+ years and he is as professional, top tier, and smart as it gets. If you need ANY help when it comes to recruiting, hit him up asap.

On the podcast this week: , and take over the show to discuss venturing outside of your playgroup. It’s great advice for anyone who wants to connect with players who they don’t already know. Don’t miss it:

Let’s all try a little harder to see the forest through the trees.

I think we are still in the infancy of the internet and historians will write a lot about this tumultuous period. Ultimately I think it was necessary for a storm to rock the boat so that the seas could eventually calm down and reveal to us the clarity we needed as a whole.

I think that the movement helped in some way fuel an environment online that became vitriolic and occasionally extremist in its reaction and power to shift public opinion. I also believe that this was wholly necessary to reach a more calm and reasoned environment online.

Cancel culture is just not a smart or logical way to go about things because humans are inherently flawed and will make mistakes. What matters is how they rise from these situations, and how they deal and grow from the mistakes they’ve made. Let their next actions speak for them.

The main takeaway for me is that we cannot let a bad apple spoil the bunch. We cannot let a (no pun intended) bad actor be why we do not believe another real victim. We cannot let them be the reason a real victim is more afraid to step out and say something when it matters.

I still deeply believe that we should lean towards believing victims when they bravely step forward to tell their stories of abuse. I also know that we should recognize that perpetrators of abuse, regardless of gender, are dangerous narcissists and manipulative beings.

I made some comments years ago about the Heard / Depp relationship abuse that are very likely turning out to be deeply misinformed. I await the official court case results, but there’s a sad lesson to be learned here. It’s not always what it seems. We can be smarter as a public.

This thread + the awful and disgusting things her “apologizing” opponent has made on Twitter after their altercation says everything you need to know about the depths of prejudice that can occur at Magic tournaments. We can do all do better. We can hold each other responsible.

This is called zaghrouta. It is a way to express joy or happiness in Arab culture. Elements of it can also be found in other cultures even as far as music in the Balkans.

Andy Reid has been a great coach for a long time. He’s in the same coaching family tree as Mike Holmgren, a Seattle legend. Good job Chiefs.
