Sort of frustrating most IP holders don’t dip into the dating genre or even just visual novels where they could invest less resources than a full-on AAA sequel and create a game fans could still be there for. Could even help fill the lull between dev years.

The market might not bare it, but I still firmly believe a Mass Effect that’s just a dating sim would beat modest sales projections, and that even many unexpected IPs could have successful dating or VNs with the right writing. Would at least introduce more writing jobs in games.

I can understand it though, the last thing most of the games industry has invested intense knowledge and experience with is anything resembling romance. Maybe if you dated some randomly generated guns? I’ll leave that game for someone else to make.

To be fair, these are swords not guns, but I’m sure they’re just as sexy.
