Messing about with C64 @paulrickards fixed for me. The Flappy Bird port isn’t bad. Managed a 15 on my first try. Not a great showing, but I suppose not awful for getting used to the timing.pic.twitter.com/iDSlh6nVKu

Scored 20 on my second try. I guess I’m catching on.pic.twitter.com/9cgljNe9aC

Okay C64 people, what the heck is it with every game randomly deciding which joystick port to use? As an Atari 8bit kid, we had very defined ports and the programmers universally seemed to follow it. I guess I need to leave two joysticks attached to the C64 at all times.

Yeah it’s annoying when playing games. There’s an external joystick switcher board: https://www.ebay.com/itm/163306046627 …

When I was 14 my C64’s Port 2 died and I could only play Port 1 games. My friends knew this and would filter disks for me at copy parties. 💾

oh dear!! Considering Port 2 is usually the default, that would have been no good at all... Interestingly, older games (early 80s) generally used Port 1. Why it seemed to switch I do not know!

They learned about the side effects of port 1's stupid wiring?
