We’re horrified by the news of the mass shooting in Monterey Park on the eve of Lunar New Year. This is supposed to be a time of celebration and joy. We’re mourning for the victims and sending love to their loved ones, those injured, and our Asian American family.

Our government treated him like an enemy. He was beaten, criminalized, and assassinated. Many who claim to support him now directly uphold the systems he fought against, while Black organizers who carry on his legacy or push even further for justice are often treated as threats.
