Glad I havent updated twitter this past month. Still looks regular to me.
The NEW retweet FEATURE is designed to 
SLOW the spread of information.
Instead of 'ADDING' likes 
to the source post, likes are mostly added to YOUR retweet.
It also forces most users to reply 
to YOUR retweet & not the retweeted topic at hand.

You can't RETWEET without COMMENTING now, leaving folks more vulnerable to BOTH public & BOT targeted attacks when they post their own opinions & spread certain types of information. This limits the spread of info & makes citizens vulnerable to institutional attacks.

that's interesting, i certainly don't like the change but i hadn't thought of it that way. curious about any sources you have that confirm it's intentionally designed to slow disseminating info
