Ok, but... The ocean is really big. The amount of volume that those data centers take up, compared to the size of the ocean especially, is next to nothing. Sure the heat doesn't really help coral reefs, but as long as they don't put them near those, it's fine.

The ocean is vastly BIG and it's full of underwater
weather & currents. Scientists predict that even small changes in temperature can disrupt natural
equilibriums within the ecosystem causing devestating butterfly effects on surrounding environments & life.

Yeah this definitely sounds like its going to fuck up the surrounding ecosystem

It's also worth noting that any heat made is going to be trapped in the earth's ecosystem, regardless of location. Underwater data centers provide a place with natural cooling capabilities that reduce the amount of refrigerants used in cooling land-based data centers. pt1

Secondly it is worth noting that regardless of location, thermal equilibrium will bring the heat from the source into the oceans. Whether it be atmospheric or aquatic. Secondly, additional heat in the oceans is not a purely negative trait, as we can see, life has- pt2

Remember when they had the idea to get energy from the jet streams as well as the water highways that other animals use? Using those is the dumbest idea ever. Any change on that magnitude can cause and Ice Age. What what happened several decades ago with the miniature Ice Age
