Most of the research on Covid-19 treatments can’t actually generate new knowledge about Covid-19 treatments. That’s bad,https://www.wired.com/story/covid-19-drug-research-is-a-big-huge-mess/ …

Honest question: How in the hell can we have billion $ depts like the CDC and FDA, and we can't mount a coordi aged response? This is how the public loses faith in subject matter experts and why depts get defunded.

How? From the looks of it I would conclude those departments were stymied by politicsl needs of the administration.

Nice article with a lot of salient points that I critique a little here: https://twitter.com/JGPharmD/status/1292970856231120904 … I do think there has been more utility from studies than you point out, though. But some of the well-done studies have been negative (sarilumab, tocilizumab) and aren’t a hot topic.

Nice article about some of the issues in clinical research that COVID has exposed. I think it doesn’t give some of what’s been accomplished its due, since many of the RCTs of new therapies have been of quality but negative. And then there’s this. 1/ https://www.wired.com/story/covid-19-drug-research-is-a-big-huge-mess/ … pic.twitter.com/ukfyc0WnC0

Yeah, I hear that, and certainly two of the Recovery trial’s policy-making results were negative.

That is a great workup, but the actual story is post viral illnesses like me/cfs induced by covid19 and many other immunological insults that nobody cares about! People write papers often only to advance their careers unfortunately! That is the actual story!

The same goes for journalism very often unfortunately! Covid19 will end one day, post viral illnesses are here to stay for millions!
