The fact that SO many politicians are lawyers and SO FEW or scientists is really really detrimental.

Jess said it: the problem here is major party politics is about whether you have or can raise a fortune to fund your election. Brains or education don't matter at all. The money barrier in politics is killing everything good about our society.

It's a shame that people think since you have a profession that you should only have opinions related to that profession. You're human and therefore have every right to voice whatever opinion you deem necessary
