Working hard on a biography of Lillian Virginia Mountweazel (1942-1973) for the podcast. You just never know what you'll find with some people's lives.

The fact that it's late afternoon and no one has written a one-page rpg called Woke Mind Virus distresses me. Where's our creativity? Or did the trademark for Woke Mind Virus get taken by your favorite Jean Paul Sartre Experience cover band?

"Sigurd Ring, a 2016 Swedish-language Beijing-style theatrical production in Finland, based on medieval Norse and Latin sources, a seventeenth-century Latin retelling of the lost saga, and a nineteenth-century Swedish Romantic play." I MUST SEE THIS.

ah, god. Ross Douthat wrote about "The Northman," and it's just as dim-witted as you'd expect.

One of the historical Swedish provinces is called "Suþermænnland" because it's inhabited by the "suþermæn," and while I know that "suþermæn" isn't "supermen" my eyes and brain keep wanting to read it that way. ("suþermæn" is "southmen")

as a groundbreaking attempt to include a Black protagonist in comics--Waku, I believe, was the first Black protagonist of their own stories in all of comics. It's pretty clearly a white man's attempt at being racially progressive, but I've always wondered if Lee had Waku in mind

Do you know what’s a fun Twitter game? Ask your followers how tall you are. There are a ridiculous amount of people here that accurately predict height from vibes.

“well, the government isn’t in the business of making baby formula” The government is in the business of creating terror and inflicting unspeakable pain overseas and ignoring poverty and hunger domestically. Perhaps it should get in the fuckin' business of making baby formula.

pre-nuptial agreements of the Classical world are fascinating. Don't you agree? "Philiscus shall not be entitled to bring in another wife besides Apollonia, nor to have a concubine or male love, nor to have children by another woman while Apollonia lives" I have questions.

On the other hand, I could just write about the development of cosmic horror before Lovecraft. Podcast episode, maybe?

Damn. This article on Joel Chandler Harris, Charles Chestnutt, and the "queer fantastic" really makes me want to write something on pre-Lovecraft Black cosmic horror...but I'm not the author who should be writing it, I think.
