Many (young?) people never fold at all, they just live out of their laundry basket. Is this an efficiency? Does it lead to other problems? And, do we see software teams “living out of their laundry basket” at times?

Seems fair. If you don’t have too many clothes, this can work. If your services are small enough, their intervals don’t have to be super neat.

Eric Ries said said sth similar in his book Lean Startup. Humans have the false tendendcy to think huge batch sizes are more efficient. The opposite is true. His example was sending 1000 letters. Finishing one letter by folding, stamping & packaging is faster than folding 1000...
