To all who have questioned my statements abt not relying on masks, I point you to this. Mask supplies are running out, & if reused they offer little protection. Social distancing is free, it works, and you're not lulled into complacency & dicey behaviors by thinking mask = safe.

They use a basic modeling exercice + probability + (of course) critical thinking !! And how valuable it would be to have people know/use these at all times, even when they don't intend to pursue a career in science?

And this is why eco-evolutionary theory training is needed from a young age! Admittedly, genetic drift is a difficult concept to teach but there are tools to use ! It is part of the programme for secondes in France (first year of high school) and they survive!

There's been a lot of interest in this aspect of our analysis, so we built an online tool to allow people to explore different assumptions/scenarios further

There are numerous outlets reporting the finding of in stool of infected patients and what this means. We know from influenza, SARS, and MERS we can find the virus in the stool as well. This is not news. For now would recommend infection control like good hand hygeine

I feel like with all of the hysteria the outbreak has been forgotten. With 3428 cases and 2250 deaths thus far with 1 case yesterday. We have come so far we need to see this through and get to zero.

Here, maybe not surprising. We often see secondary bacterial infections in people that die of influenza. This may be a typical influenza-related death and the CoV might have been incidental

This: Even large European countries have to draw on international reviewers to avoid conflicts of interest. I've seen the French send out >20 requests to get 2 reviews. Without 2, the applicants wait another year. Please consider saying yes if you're able.

Ashamed & worried to read about things like this happening around us: Unacceptable at EVERY level. I hold everyone who has peddled panic as a career enhancement measure for this. Inexplicable, Chinese restaurants are being avoided. Why? Its irrational.
