Philosophical pragmatism is insufficiently truth-oriented to ground out its claims of practicality in utility accruing to any agent, so "practical" means a more degenerate local condition such as "things going swimmingly" which is conflated with utility through sleight of hand.

Detecting bad behavior is a red queen's race. That doesn't mean "don't use heuristics", it means "keep tracking reality, keep being curious, keep innovating". The most problematic (replicable) bad behavior isn't usually smart, and can be out-thought.

Soldiers who have reached a stalemate and are therefore at ceasefire still remain hostile to each other, in a way that civilians at peace are not, which is why they interpret unusual motion as threat.

Related: if you call someone a “cult leader” when they have no more influence over their “followers” than a therapist, clergyman, teacher, or boss, then you’re using an authoritarian double standard.

The "objective vs subjective" dichotomy assumes answers are either totally constrained (by standardized checking procedures, runnable on the standard human control software) or totally unconstrained. Partial constraints are also possible e.g. coherence conditions.

and of course, the real infohazards (like, the things that actually fuck people up in the real world, not in Dark Fantasies) are things like trauma and political propaganda not really very fun in comparison

the whole memespace around "infohazards" seems optimized for being fun like, you have dangerous forbidden knowledge that will drive people mad and so you need to create a secret cabal to gatekeep it (don't you want to be in on it too???)

A prompt for clarifying values: If there were a society of ~150 copies of you (like, your same mental architecture and ideas, with moderate variation, in humans with genetic diversity and a 50/50 sex ratio), how would that society function? What would daily life be like?
