DEDA will apparently review this proposal Monday. (Though it’s not currently on the agenda https://business.delaware.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/118/2020/02/02-Public-Notice-Feb-24-2020.pdf …) If you think we should spend our money on ourselves, not multi-billion dollar corporations, email business@Delaware.gov, call 302-739-4271, or attend the meeting.

Wow. Knowing how our state currently works, they'll likely bend over backwards and give them $9M. I worked at Amazon New Castle (PHL1) for over a year and a few months at Amazon Middletown (PHL7) when I couldn't get a teaching job after college.
-
PHL1 (the 2nd warehouse Amazon ever opened from what I was told) still had lingering signs of Amazon's original corporate attitude which treated warehouse workers as co-owners of the company. Bezos had a conscience until the money started flowing in.

And given the return Delaware will get on that investment, it’s a wise move.

This is where I’m torn. Because yes, the jobs and other stuff would be beneficial, probably beyond the amount we put in. BUT, one of the richest companies in the world is basically saying “bribe us or we’lol go elsewhere.” It’s gross and shouldn’t be rewarded.

Jess is it going to be taxes taken directly from Delaware citizens or is it in the form of tax breaks from their increased business activity that the state would not have realized ???
-
Per the article the request is a grant, not tax abatement.
