I'm all for good-faith intra-feminist critique (see: https://twitter.com/jessespafford/status/519168991299117057 …). But I think that often people criticize for criticism's sake.

By going after others from the left, you can prove that you are ideologically purest. Important for those for whom feminism is an identity.

One possible harm is limited participation. It's understandable why some might shy away if they'll be criticized regardless of what they do.

Another is a general culture of animosity within the movement characterized by constant vicious critique, vindictive reprisal, and posturing
