Covington was also a useful example of how Twitter absolutely radicalizes journalists. Because they are on it, all day every day, watching how their friends respond to every news item in real time -- always emphatically -- that has a profound effect on shaping coverage.

We have an apparatus made up of journalists and activists who nominally purport to be truth-tellers and accountability-holders, but who unironically say things like "if hillary won, we'd be having brunch right now" and don't see what an own-goal that attitude is.

I had a similar reaction to all the 2015-2017 stories about college campuses being out of control that then fell apart after cursory investigation. Has been a bad time for the media.

Covington also changed the way I saw the news & journalists. I still admire many of them but I no longer trust their neutrality or perception in the way I used to.
