Not all Habitable Zones are the same because not all stars are the same! Our Sun is a G-type star, which is hotter than K-type and M-type stars. But it's not just the habitable zone we need to worry about, it's also radiation type!

Here's a question: what kind of data would you be okay with sharing with a hypothetical government agency?

The memorizing activity on the surface of the Sun! This is 10 days of observations compressed into 15s, and you can see how the surface seems to almost 'boil.' Image covers 36,500 km x 36,500 km (about 3x wider than Earth).

A great article from on the possible satellite collision today. Around 6pm EST, there is about a 1% chance two large satellites could collide in space, creating a huge cloud of debris. Stay tuned.

TFW two important conferences land at the same time: 1. CASC2020 - May 27-29 (, museums/science centres) 2. CASCA2020 - May 25-28 (, astrophysics) At least they're not far from each other, maybe I can attend both?

The Martian landscape. What would it be like to walk around on this surface? Would hiking be easier? What would a sunset feel like? Would the ground feel like Earth's ground? Surreal. Image: ,,,MSSS;Thomas Appéré

Watching this also reminded me how atmospheric transport systems work on the gas giant planets. Check out this video compiled from data from as it passed by Jupiter

This video shows how smoke from the is transported globally (it really picks up about halfway through). It's also interesting to see all the different processes e.g., wind flying off the Sahara towards N/S America
