What a horrible design. How would one shift their grip as their fingers are between the two handles?

I still hate that. But that's at least based on an actual sword design. How would you shift your hand grip in the double saber shown in the "closed" configuration?

The way I think of it is you don’t. Grasp the folded saber only by the “upper” half, Saber folds out, bottom hand grasps after it folds out
