Indian elections for 20 years have used this cheap and reliable electronic voting system. Not networked to anything; also produce a paper receipt which is audited. Works great. Cybersecurity doesn’t necessarily mean make things more complicated.

We find multigenerational persistence up to six generations back in education, occupations, and wealth. Past generations structure life chances many generations later, even though mobility is high (4th cousin correlations around 0.014).

Immigration has been a central issue for Silicon Valley for years, so kind of interesting that not a single major tech leader said a word about the six countries added to the travel ban last week.

I've been looking for a correct definition of p values in textbooks... and no wonder everyone has trouble with this. Most of the definitions are straight up wrong. Here follows a list of incorrect examples:

I’ve been working on this—my first feature—for months. It’s the story of one family, split in half for no reason by Border Patrol. It’s also a story of how completely US border policy has changed in past yr. Lemme (ahem) explain. 1/

Extremely sad. A 17yo severely disabled boy in rural Hubei province has died after being left at home alone for six days, while his father and brother were quarantined for coronavirus. He was fed *twice* during that time by the local cadres who were entrusted with his care.

California housing politics is the liberal version of voter ID laws & other suppression tactics. Through housing policy, the state has selected who gets to live there & thus who has power to influence policy. It is a vicious cycle, ever-shrinking the power of working people.
