People saying this disproves the “good guy with a gun” theory. Sounds like the cops stopped the good guys from going in, which is just argument for even more civilian carry. Kids probably written off as casualties better attributed to gunman than friendly fire in rescue attempt.

The more we learn about the police's performance during the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, the more troubling questions and issues arise. The worst is why police didn't immediately breach the room where the students where killed. THREAD (1/8):

this also disproves the "require training to use a gun" theory because the most trained professionals refused to use their law enforcement training when it mattered the most

At best, supplying a teacher with a gun to confront a shooter is a mandate to have them sacrifice themselves while likely doing little to stop the attack; at worst, the teacher could accidentally harm or kill children, or even be mistaken for the shooter by responding officers.

An armed security guard faces grim odds as well. Mass shootings are not duels; they are ambushes. The element of surprise and war-like weaponry will always give the attacker an advantage.

It is amazing how the logic is biased by pro-gun people. Civilised countries are shocked to see this every few weeks in the US , and even more shocked to see that americans dont think that it is a weapon issue... Poor kids, poor victims, poor future victims... Sad

Arming civilians to defend themselves is one thing, letting them think they’re John McLane and have them storm the school is totally off limits. Even if they eventually suck at it, let the cops do their job.
