Last one, I promise: Is there something that prevents you from taking a deduction on a loss generated by selling an asset to your spouse?

The general workaround in UK law at least is that you and your spouse simultaneously engage in a sale and purchase tx respectively, to a 3rd party. UK has a particular niche in finding bullsh*t ways to make documentation appear different to real world events.
