Europeans are just in shock because it was the first invasion since WW2 in Europe. Of course we care more about that, Americans would also care more about an invasion of California into Arizona than other conflicts in the world.

Basically it's not Ukraine. The issue is when a Red-ish county is invading a Green-ish/Yellow-ish county or have borders with one.
