As a reminder 2/3rds of the bitcoin was legally and safely distributed ( checked with 2 lawyers to be sure before handing them out) 1/3 remained in a multikey when they received a court order not to move the funds and that was in a multikey with two other people...

At this point I don't know if this is even related to bitcoin specifically or if it is part of an investigation into all of the people involved in the leadership of the protest. never intended to keep bitcoin or any other asset out of the hands of authorities...

For the people claiming that he should have had it is some kind of setup that could have prevented a court from seizing the funds it was never something Caribou intended to do. He always intended to comply with the local laws and regulations and judicial orders.

For my part I'm glad the remaining funds are now in control of the police. There are a lot more dangerous ways this could have turned out. Caribou was already trying to find a way to put the court in control of the bitcoin for at least a couple of days already...

Great questions for Greg Foss, Jeff Booth and BTC Sessions. They dropped the full 1M in bitcoin on a noob and it's a miracle all of the funds were not stolen and used to buy crack. I would assume the remaining funds will be released from police at some point and distributed...

What's particularly galling about this Mareva injunction is that the civil court system was weaponized to stifle political speech and association. As with all such prejudgment freezes, no plaintiff has yet proven a cognizable injury. Yet the defendants are deprived property.

I've been running an edu. & humanitarian aid project in Venezuela for 10 years using Bitcoin donations. We’ve served around 500k meals per year since 2015. If a dictator (Venezuelan, Spaniard or Canadian) comes to me & tries to take the funds of starving people they won't get 'em
