1/ Getting a crypto job 🧵
Yesterday I offered to help people find a job in crypto.
I’ve received 600+ DM’s asking for advice.
I figured I’d share some thoughts publicly for people trying to enter this industry.
2/ Every crypto company is doing phenomenally well right now.
Because of this, every single company is hiring.
Ask any founder “what’s your main challenges right now?”
10/10 will tell you it’s “finding talented people to join us.”
3/ So why aren’t you getting a job if everyone is hiring!?
Let’s run through some of the reasons.
I’ll take you behind the scenes of what goes on in the mind of a hiring manager.
4/ First, sloppy outreach.
I’m astonished by how many applicants have resumes that aren’t formatted, spell our name wrong, have typos in their emails, and more.
This weeds out +50% of applicants.
Make your first impression sharp!
5/ Second, rambling outreach.
We receive dozens/hundreds of inbounds for each role.
Write 5 sentences total on your background, why you’d be perfect for this role, experience with crypto.
That’s it!
We get so many 7 paragraph emails. Use a phone call to share all that info.
This. Custom cover letter is worth a lot. Screeners are going through 1000 resumes a day. There is no phone screen if the application doesn’t stand out. Rather than spray-and-pray, try a spear hunting approach. Do some research and invest heavily fewer attempts to stand out.
