Vaccination and public health are not individual decisions because the impact is borne by the society. It’s unethical to let unvaccinated live with their decision if they get COVID so they have to be treated, thus cancer patients and others are dying because ICUs are full.

A hospital in Idaho called my hospital asking if they could fly an intubated patient to our ICU because they have no ICU beds open due to covid. We were the closest hospital with at least one open ICU bed. From Idaho. We are in CT.

The rational choice is then either to make vaccinations mandatory or let hospitals triage the unvaccinated to the bottom of the priority list. The current approach is unfair and caters to selfish, stupid people.

When was the last time any of those medical issues you cited above risked collapsing our entire medical system because people made a conscious choice to not seek the preventative treatment? That’s the sort of data I’d look at for a comparison. But I haven’t found anything.
