That's ~$20k/person. Isn't community college like $1000/yr? 300,000 seems like a lot of people to have become severely disabled. Were these loans given to people who were already severely disabled? I'm all for bailing out victims of the college debt scam but these numbers ???

This article explains the details better, it’s part of a program for the disabled that dates back to 1965 and meant for those so severely disabled, they would never be able to work again to pay back the debt:

The article says: >Americans who can no longer work due to a significant disability I'm curious though because it sounds like loans might have been given after a person became disabled, with the knowledge that they'd never be able to work or repay. Why make these loans?
