I’ve traveled all through Afghanistan and everyone I met and worked with didn’t want the Taliban back in power, this is very complex ,will dm and explain - these are some of my pictures of doctors, rug makers, NGO workers etc

The military abandoned their posts & the civilians were unarmed. The unified taliban force overwhelmed any resistance so suddenly that it was clear surrender & peace agreements were the best option to save lives for now

I think the percentages are small. But we were arrogant enough to think that we could afford to engage in a never ending nation building war without collateral damage. I certainly don't blame the troops. I blame Cheney and Bush admin for even thinking this was a good idea

Same same ROK South Korean and South Vietnamese, the Northern armies led by dynamic military and civ leaders wanted it more.
Think about how badass the mujahideen were (that we armed) against the full throttle Soviet army.

At the outset of the Korean War, ROK had 1/2 the troops that NK had ... they had 0 tanks, and 0 combat planes in their air force ... NK had 280 tanks, over 200 combat planes (fighters/bombers) supplied by USSR and China ... so no, not the same situation.
