It is absolutely wild that members of Congress are still allowed to buy and sell individual stock. It shouldn’t be legal. We’ve introduced legislation to end the practice, but as one can imagine it’s a very uphill battle to pass. This shouldn’t even be controversial though! twitter.com/waltshaub/stat

A potentially cleaner alternative would be to tie execution of trades to trigger a Congressional Form 4. This would send the markets useful information, and the trade analysis would weed out corruption by creating a paper trail for potential criminal proceedings.

Ya, seems like it’s not a huge deal if it’s insta reported. Same goes for all insider trades though. Maybe we could come up with some kind of ETF/index that tracks US dominance across a bunch of metrics and restrict politicians to investing in that?

If we reduce congress' power so they cannot influence business outcomes, or pick winners and losers, and just focus on protecting individual liberty, as was their purpose, it's a non-issue.

Imagine what it would be like if Congress didn’t accidentally ban blockchains. We could have leaders share public wallet addresses where activity would update automatically and get scraped by any journalist, investigator, or data platform that so desired.
