Best thing would be to scratch the crypto stuff entirely but for a bunch of reasons related to this mind boggling broken process, the Lummis amendment is our best hope.

is one of our few champions in government. It’s not her fault that we are between bad and worse.

lying to the public that her amendment "promotes innovation" when it does no such thing. Silver lining: Lummis has helped create such a boondoggle that *maybe* the entire provision will be stricken to push the bill forward. Unlikely, yes.

Relative to the alternative amendment or original language, it’s a miracle for innovation. I agree, it’s not optimal and I’m still holding out hope for having the whole thing thrown out. I don’t think Lummis sees that as a realistic, which is we we have her amendment.
