People of Austin, TX, what’s the situation with the street camping? Is Prop B going to pass? Thinking about a move but would never live in another city where filth and dangerously unstable people are allowed to run unchecked after seeing the devastation in SF and Venice, CA.

It’s hard on everyone when the system lets people down, but these are humans in the midst of mental health crises with very little resources, not feral animals who delight in scavenging your dumpster by choice.

They might be humans but they are not fit to live on the streets any more than wild animals. It’s time to stop managing the problem, as if this is the optimal end state. We need to focus on a cure but there are too many interests who benefit from maintaining the disease.
