Jesse you are disappointing me with this fomo bubble mentality.
Wen lightning network at kraken?
NFTs are currently a digital tulip bubble, prices are jacked up by pump & dumpers who have illegal securities to pump.
"NFTs are the future" is the same as "ICOs are the future."

Yes there's some long term value in NFTs, but these ethereum & defi whales are pumping the fuck out of these high profile NFT launches for marketing purposes.
They all have a vested interest to keep these NFTs priced high, but the value of all this shit is going to get rekt.

I can't believe that you're suggesting this is sustainable model for charity fundraising...
I need me some of that koolaid.
Jesse come on my podcast and let's talk about this.
You can be a Bitcoiner & like NFTs, but your logic here is shockingly shitcoiny...

I think you misunderstand the purpose of these charity NFTs. They’re not investments for flipping. They’re fancy donation receipts that double as digital status symbols. Auctioning status has long been a successful fundraising tactic for non-profits.

Dude it was purchased by a shitcoin DAO to pump it's token with all the free marketing you guys are giving them.

IMO it has 0 resale value. I don’t know what their rationale for buying it was. My bid was for a straight donation. It clearly was an effective tool for the charity. Can only speculate about the buyer’s objectives.

Do you really think that they have genuine incentives?
The DAO is made up of a bunch of people who made collectively at minimum $100 million this year printing their own DeFi tokens & NFT derivative tokens.
It's a marketing expenses to keep the degenerate defi bubble going.

Doesn’t really matter to the charity. I appreciate their donation to a cause that benefits us all. Did they individually get something for it other than marketing, good will, status and a tax write-off? I don’t know. Charities should jump in while the space is hot.

Well, I kinda of agree with that for artists ... get the money and put it into Bitcoin.
If charities like HRF are trying to take a principled stance on human rights, why would they risk the repetitional damage of endorsing a pump & dump like this though?

You can’t judge the merits of the donor in a situation like this. I don’t think anyone would see taking the money as an endorsement. Maybe it’s a case for a bidder veto feature on these platforms though. What do you think is the scam though? Isn’t it just pooled donations?
