Thanks for drafting this. I agree with much of what you say. One question: did Richie actually say he wants anyone but a Democrat in the DA role? If not, it’s a bit of a needless potshot against the guy.

Very happy to stand corrected but in that's case will you work with SF Democrat leadership to alter your campaign given that the wording and positioning of your campaign doesn't appeal to a broad church of Democrats and risks not maximizing the envelope of interest?

You can obviously understand that the optics of a Republican leading a recall campaign led to my reasonable assumption. Delighted I'm wrong, so with that in mind and wanting the same outcome it would make sense to let Democrats (who have vast majority in SF) lead your campaign.

Can someone help me understand why this has anything to do with political party? Only those identifying as Dem can challenge another Dem-identifying person in office?

Sure happy to. 1) many Democrats are highly suspicious of a Republican, and especially one who has run for office as a Republican leading a recall effort of a Democrat in astly left leaning SF.

I guess I gave people more credit. Anecdotally, I'm not sure the city is still leaning as Dem as it once was. A lot of people now see Dem policy/ideology as the primary culprit in the city's and state's downfall. There's a chance people would be more trusting of Rep at this point
'Democrat' in SF is practically multiple parties at this point with a variety of options available in most races.
Happy to continue this conversation with you when the a Republican next gets elected for an office in SF but for now it's moot conversation

It might be, which renders the label/affiliation meaningless. You don't know what anybody believes, anymore. People associate out of tradition. Maybe everyone should just run as Dem and that would be a way to actually have policy debate rather than blind label voting/bashing.
