Y’all keep blaming crypto for destroying the earth meanwhile if we had clean sustainable sources of energy in place none of this conversation would be happening. Classic gaslighting from big oil companies, make us focus on crypto instead of the real issue, our reliance on oil

I’m replying by again because I’m baffled by this response. How is switching to sustainable energy fighting fire with fire? You do realize that the environmental impacts of Bitcoin mining come from the fact that it requires the burning of fossil fuels, right?

You’re saying that switching to wind and solar power doesn’t fix the problem? Or advocation for those things doesn’t help? I’m still confused. Do you like that we keep burning oil or not lol

By that logic everyone should go out and buy an electric car tomorrow. And manufacturers should HAVE to stop producing gas powered vehicles. But they won’t, and instead of focusing on that, we’re discussing the environmental impact of an industry much smaller than ones that exist

Spending electricity doesn’t create a carbon footprint any more than spending money does. Don’t like trees getting burnt for energy or to make money, take up the problem at the production stage. Once it’s in circulation, the owner of the asset can spend it on whatever they want.
