This $99 mug comes with a ToS, privacy policy, wants my location, requires an email to set up an account. I just want my damn liquid to stay warm. Anyone recommend any lower tech, privacy preserving alternatives?

You have to install the app to be able to adjust the temp on the mug. Even using a burner email, the app collects all kinds of data about your network and device.

Try a no-tech food-grade stainless steel double-wall vacuum-insulated mug. Keeps contents warm or cold a long time (depending on type of cover), never breaks, decentralized, privacy-preserving, freedom-to-tinker/repair, and own it instead of rent it.

There you go mate, best low tech place to keep your coffee at whatever temp you want. Asians know !
Japanese design, best low tech one I found for temperature preservation.
