"'Free Muni' is simple and easy to understand. Also, everyone likes free things. But great taglines don’t always make effective policy. The best way to increase Muni ridership is to prioritize more frequent, safe and predictable service."

Ugh, such a waste.
Give people safe, clean & reliable MUNI, then they will ride. No one is saying MUNI's problem is that it's too expensive, but Dean will make this a pointless issue in 2021.

it’s not like we don’t have endless programs for discounted tickets, monthly passes, for youth, the elderly, the disabled, school children, commuter subsidized,...etc. the worst part IMO of making Muni “free” is that people will treat it as such. And not value or respect it.

💯 these political morons can’t see that people gladly pay $20 for an Uber to avoid Muni and BART
If muni was safe and clean people would love to use it and pay.
You could not PAY me to ride BART / muni right now

I used to ride the muni then gave it up after too many gross/dangerous encounters. If it operated like the subway of any civilized city, people would gladly pay double the price, which would still be a lot cheaper than Uber/Lyft. People don’t use it because it’s too risky.
