How exactly can a town be more than the sum of its residents? Especially if those residents tacitly conspire to close off their town (as most of us in the Bay Area do).

The global carnage and suffering funded by our tax dollars alone should be enough to leave the country. Moving is a hassle though so cognitive dissonance finds a way to justify staying.
