I have seen many times in the last 2 days on one side or the other of the XBT/USD and XBT/EUR books fully filled with only min vol orders. This makes me wonder about the number and the nature of the market participants. Is the spread artificially filled now?

No. Anybody or their bot can make a bunch of orders at the same price/vol.

cool thx for clarification. I guess then that a participant finds it useful to fill in the spread for some reason. I have never seen that before 2 days ago in at least a year of looking at those books many hours per day...
