Allowing your employees to have personal Twitter accounts has got to be a bad business decision?

This is why most companies have social media policies under which you can be terminated for violating. Especially if you tarnish the reputation of the company because of personal association and commentary.

I’m not saying it’s right, but businesses should have a right to protect themselves from the public image disasters of their employees

Yeah, ideally all employees are locked in a bunker and prohibited from contacting the outside world for the duration of their employment.
I would think having the Kraken “growth lead” drive away 8-figure annual volume accounts by blocking his/your customers on social media perhaps might not be part of his job description.
But what do I know?
It’s your decision how you want your team to treat your customers.

How has one employee's personal statements on Twitter affected your experience with the service?

That’s not what I’m saying so thanks for twisting my words. I’m saying as a company you have every right to hold employees accountable for their actions even on their personal twitter.

Sure. Question is where do you draw the line. Do you have an example of a policy that you think works well and strikes the right balance?
