What does 10 out of 15 years and the amount have to do with anything? It means he had losses or sufficient deductions in 10 and gains or insufficient deductions in 5. So what? Refund means he overpaid on his taxes and gave the gov a free loan. Can we be intellectually honest?

Shock of shocks! Donald Trump, the self-proclaimed billionaire, received a $72.9 million tax refund from the IRS while not paying a nickel in federal income taxes in 10 out of 15 years. Yep. Trump l-o-v-e-s corporate socialism for himself, rugged capitalism for everyone else.

Neutral non-US take here: You're focusing too much on the 1st part premise, and not on the 2nd actual content/conclusion. The tweet is about the hypocrisy of "Trump loving corporate socialism for himself, rugged capitalism for everyone else", not about the refund per se.

So if he’s a genius businessman, how come the losses? If the losses aren’t real - just shrewd (or crooked) tax planning, he’s not exactly the epitome of patriotism, is he? The most disingenuous take: he gave the government a loan out of the kindness of his heart.
