Assuming a business of 3 people: the boss and 2 employees, giving one employee a raise just means that the boss makes less.
Assuming a world of 3 items for sale: the relative pay of the 3 people could determine who could buy 0-3 of those items. e.g. boss: 2, A: 1, B: 0
Your assuming the company didn’t increase profit or market share. If so, both could have more money, and even the 3rd employee
