Good move. I'm looking outside of CA given the proposed income tax hike + wealth tax.
Inside CA: Westside LA
Outside, 0% cap gains tax: Austin, Nashville, Miami, Jackson Hole, Incline Village, Portsmouth, Seattle.
Outside US: Singapore, NZ
Hard to get a feel without visiting.

West side of LA is becoming a shithole. The homelessness problem and crime is increasing like crazy there. Within CA north San Diego by a long shot. Outside CA is up for debate but Utah and incline village are intriguing.

Venice and Santa Monica, yes.. though not nearly as bad as SF. Pacific Palisades and Malibu aren't bad but you will definitely get a lot more for your money near Encinitas.

In LA, with state income tax being 16% for the highest earners for long term capital gain, that is almost doubling the federal tax rate.

We'll see if these new taxes pass. Getting harder to justify living in CA for anyone with a remote job.

True jesse, the problem I have is this: It is only a matter of time they keep adding on taxes and state legislature doesn't change. Nothing has changed. So it is better to prepare now instead of later.

Yeah, thanks -- I've been following it. It's never going to end. There will never be enough. The state needs to cut back services and failed programs.
