Here's pricing usps.com/business/every

So yeah target 300 upper class households that make >$100k, skew older, and live in houses that start at $2M for $53 + printing costs. <0.20 / household. I know this bc my first job was a local small business and this was our primary marketing/ad run. It used to be cheaper 😳

They have to be losing money on that. Even if they're not, there's a real externalized cost in the form of my attention and time to clear my spambox. I oughta be able to write this loss off on my taxes.

You or probably someone on your team probably has insight into how competitive this pricing? Obviously direct mail isn't a Facebook ad, but what's the cost difference? If they 2x'd the price would it really mean more than half the customers would no longer use it?

I think they could double the price and not lose a single legit user. Maybe some spam isn't worth sending at that price. Would be great if the USPS had a payment/banking system attached and every time they put a letter in my box, the sender pays me $1. I might accept the spam.

Did you accept it when it was 21 co / Earn? 😅 And the only downside to the idea of USPS having a payment/banking system attached is the hot mess + cost of USPS trying to have a payment/banking system attached. Playing startup isnt in their dna.

Sometimes! Gov needs to have a banking rail of last resort, anyway. Post office already has the physical branches and handles money orders. Maybe it could handle some small accounts as well.

If you're going for a "last resort" style something then that's...maybe realistic What worries me is you take one step, then another, and then theres a few billion gone and a poorly executed grand vision and you wonder why anyone thought that vision was doable in the first place
