If the USPS is losing money, why am I getting so much garbage spam physical mail? Are we subsidizing the cost of spam to ourselves? Why not just charge all these spammers whatever it costs to at least break even? How about min stamp price = $5 and if it's not worth it, email me?

Apparently, they're making losses on this "vital" business line. Honestly, I don't even need to get mail every day. I could get it once a month and not be bothered. Make the rates on spam (or all physical letters) punitive, cut back deliveries to weekly.

Then there are 3 potential problems: 1. price isn't high enough since you need to ask the taxpayer to subsidize the cost of spamming themselves 2. service is too good/timely/accurate/etc (relative to what it costs) 3. massive waste/mismanagement somewhere

I would prefer it if there weren't any mail service, at all. I deal with mail because some entities refuse to operate any other way. The absence of a mail service would force them to change.

Congress peggs the increases in stamp costs to inflation. It's a no win situation as a functioning business. I'm not buying what Congress is selling right now in regards to the USPS.

There's no sense in them handling package delivery, either, since they just leave a note saying noone was home (a lie) and tell me to come get it myself.
