We should view government as the service provider of last resort. If you can't afford private education & security, you have public schools and police. Problem is government charges us for its services even when we don't want them, reducing our financial ability to choose.

... with the exception of natural monopolies and various endeavours that don't lend themselves to private entreprise at all! No more private railroads, please. The cure is worse than the disease (as is obvious to anyone who's ever taken a train in the UK/US vs. continental EU)

The problem with government is not that it can do some things better, but it’s relentless hunger to ever grow grow grow far beyond its competence. No one is able to stop governments right now. Frightening.
