re: #TaxCABillionaires CA has the highest taxes in the nation. CA could raise more money by reducing taxes. Counter-intuitive but when you reduce fees, volume increases. The rich are fleeing CA because of high taxes. Unbundle the government. Let's see what we're paying for.

I also think we need more data, here is my experience with clients. People will make there money elsewhere, usually it’s less taxed states and still move to CA afterwards for the quality of life. Even thought they might complain about it. I don’t really see them leave.

If you're past peak earnings and just coasting on savings, you don't have much new income to be taxed. It makes sense to move to CA for retirement, where you can benefit from the flawed property tax regime and the great public services that taxpayers are providing to you.

You are discussing retiree's with fixed incomes moving to CA, but this video is about homeless housing during covid. To me, the utilities and services are not really related to that situation. Maybe tangentially (it's financed with public cash/debt) but it's not 'public services'
