Indeed. And the inactivity excuse is ... BS. I received hundreds of emails on that address, mainly by senders mistakes as the alias was very common: alex@. Still, the Protonmail team had no way to know that.

Agree that is BS :(. I learned that these great usernames for email accounts end up being problematic long-term because of all the spam and unintentional email that comes to you. I had a great one for gmail and constantly got others' legal docs, tax returns, etc.
