This is why I don't think journalists should hold any crypto. If you hold one, you can be seen to have a bias against all others. At Decrypt we have a policy of disclosures but I personally don't hold more than $50 of any coin for this reason.

The spirit of the editor's code is that you don't write about something that you are invested in. It refers to stocks but I believe it applies to crypto too. In this case, I think owning stocks or real estate wouldn't be a conflict because we rarely cover them.

My thinking is that, since crypto can be used as money, I keep my amounts to what I regularly use. I use ETH for testing dapps and stuff so I typically have some of that. If I start using and spending more and more crypto per day, I think it would be reasonable to up the limit.
