Why don't we pay politicians more? Governor of California makes $173k/yr to lead a team of 800k (like Amazon), which generates revenue of $140b/yr (like Google). If we want top talent, shouldn't the CEO of CA get paid something comparable to the CEOs of these businesses?

Government is by design an expense in return for human comfort/convenience/safety. If you wanted it to generate a net profit, you’d have to extract that from private parties(taxes), or rape and pillage with that expense you’re already paying for: the military

How about customer satisfaction? Everyone receives hundreds of bills and invoices every year, yet there is only on that is is NOT based on a free and voluntary contract. Why is that?
