Why don't we pay politicians more? Governor of California makes $173k/yr to lead a team of 800k (like Amazon), which generates revenue of $140b/yr (like Google). If we want top talent, shouldn't the CEO of CA get paid something comparable to the CEOs of these businesses?

No, I agree 100%. It doesn’t make sense. It’s legal corruption. Pretty insane tbh. What are we gonna do? People are literally having a race war right now... it’s obviously a distraction from the bigger picture. Herd mentality ya kno?

In Australia we have done of the highest paid politicians in the world. With generous lifelong pension and benefits. The reasoning is that it reduces incentive for corruption. Let me tell you, it makes no difference. Still plenty of corruption.

It's apparently what they haven't been teaching, accountability and oversight for starters. Responsible decision making. Critical thinking. Problem solving. They just pass kids through to get more funding for administrators.

Agree 100%... in fact I believe that was the approach Singapore took in its early period of political and economic evolution to stamp out corruption. Pay people enough to be above corruption and ensure you get quality people.
