We have antitrust laws to break up monopolies. Why should the gov be the exception? We're getting a raw deal: stagnant products, price gouging, customer service agents literally beat you up for complaining.

We have become dependent on monopolistic governments and corporations to bring us together. It’s time to give the civic sector of our society the economic tools it needs to compete, and restore our civic life that has been crowded out of contention.

It's almost like we need city states competing with each other to attract citizens a la the city states of Italy in the 14th and 15th century. I mean, heck, what's the worst that could happen? Another Renaissance?
