Part of the issue is that mainstream media is constantly looking for some sensational "gotcha" angle, slight misstatement to repeat out of context, etc. It's high risk, low reward relative to publishing your own content or doing a live podcast/video which can't be distorted.

I think companies controlling their own distribution channels work better for content consumers too. The affiliation is clear so you don’t have to second guess everything, it’s actually makes it much easier to put (some) trust in the content

Why will your readers believe your story read in your own channels? the approach is how to attract good journalists to understand your story and told from a wider context for the benefit of their readers

Justin Sun & CZ are 2 examples who already follow this pattern & are essentially their own social media brands. I think they do a great job promoting their cryptocurrency projects. But users benefit from objective reporting too. Very different roles. 🙂
